Trio Entertains At Festivities |

|
ORANGE - "Danny Boy" has been called perhaps the "greatest folk song" written. James Holston of town can personally attest to the appeal it holds for peoples the world over. Holston, a corporate world-traveller for whom music has been a universal icebreaker, has played "Danny Boy" on harmonica to informal audiences in various lands, including South East Asia. And, without exception, that song has been warmly recognized "everywhere," he says.
Here at home, Holston, Terry Reed and wife Ann Reed gather wonderful songs, including that very one written in America in 1910 … Then they make the songs their own by singing in three-part harmonies uniquely arranged by Terry Reed. Their varied song list includes "Shine on Your Shoes," "Don't" and "Blue Heaven."… The Mid-Range Trio, on Saturday, performed for Baldwinville Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center's Family Day – an alfresco affair with an island theme. |
After they sang "Danny Boy," and applause settled, a voice in the crowd called out: "Play it again! You made my day."
So they played it again.
